Vera Elizabeth (Balsom) Lampe was born February 13, 1931 to Eli and Emily Jane (Butcher) Balsom in Clarenville, Newfoundland, Canada. She passed away Monday, July 27, 2015 at Cox Hospital at 11:25 p.m. at the age of 84 years.
Vera always had a compassion for caring for people. As a young lady, she worked in a cottage hospital in the town called “Come by Chance”. Later she worked at a hospital in St. John’s where she met John Lampe on a blind date. They married on April 9, 1952. After moving to the states she worked at different hospitals as a surgical tech and studied hard to receive her citizenship in 1966. After moving to Marshfield, she worked at the clinic with Dr. J.E. Blinn, almost ten years. She also worked at Busy Bee Daycare loving on all the babies. Vera knew Jesus as her Savior and was a member of the Temple Baptist Church for many years.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband John Lampe and an infant son, Johnny Lampe, daughter Daphne Lampe Pinegar and infant granddaughter, Melody Lampe. Two brothers; George Balsom and James Balsom.
She is survived by son Fred Lampe and wife Renee, daughter LaDonna Lampe, all of Marshfield. Another son, Larry Lampe of Roach, MO. Three granddaughters; Jenifer Wilson, Elisabeth Thomas and Hayley Lampe and four great-grandchildren. One brother, Ray Balsom of Mount Pearl, Newfoundland, Canada; three sisters; Thelma Warnell of Greely, Ottawa, Canada, Daphne Adams of Clavenvile, NewFoundland, Canada and Jean Nelson of Exeter, RI.
She was loved deeply and will be greatly missed.
Family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Grace Place Children’s Home.
Funeral Services will be Friday, July 31, 2015 10:00 A.M. with visitation on Thursday, July 30, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. both at the funeral home.
