Raymond Holstine, son of the late Clyde and Ora (Mitchell) Holstine was born on November 16, 1924 in a small farm house in Bakersfield, MO. He passed away peacefully on July 30, 2015 in his home at Marshfield, MO. at the age of 90.
Ray went to Bakersfield School 1st grade thru 8th grade when he had to quit and help out with the farm. At age 17, he enlisted in the Navy where he served for two years. He then enlisted in the army where he fought in WWII.
After returning home from the war, he met his bride of 68 years, Grace Roberts in the fields of Marked Tree, Arkansas. To this union three girls were born. Patricia Kay (Holstine) Beardsley and husband Donald; Deborah Lee (Holstine) Wilson and husband Randy of Strafford, MO. and Cynthia Kay (Holstine) Jinks and husband Jerry. To these unions were born seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Ray –dad- gpa-papa thought the world of his family and loved each and every one very much.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Ora Holstinel. Two brothers, Leaman Holstine and Gene Holstine along with one sister, Geneva.
He is survived by his wife Grace and three daughters. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One brother,Mack, who lives in Kansas City, Kansas.
Ray loved to hunt, fish, travel and spend every waking moment with family and friends. Ray accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior a few years ago in Niangua at the Niangua Freewill Baptist Church which was his church home.
Ray was a driving force in his family and everyone will miss his corny jokes and crazy songs. His chair will forever be the light that warms the room.
Graveside services will be held at Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Springfield on August 17, 2015 at 1:00 p.m.
