James Walter “Jim” Sumrall, son of Walter R. Sumrall and Frances (Lindabury) Sumrall, was born December 3, 1937 in Melbourne, Florida. He passed away at 8:00 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2015 in his home south of Marshfield at the age of 77.

Jim worked at many different jobs over the years, including building Trags for the Creative Ministries of the United Methodist Church and as a janitor at Marshfield Schools and SMSU.   His favorite job was delivering RVs, which gave him the opportunity travel in 48 states.  Jim was an active member of the Marshfield United Methodist Church for over 50 years. He also served in the United States Army from 1955-1958.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James E. Sumrall; and a nephew, Steven J. Kirby.

Survivors include his wife Rowena; one son and his wife, Bob and Beth Sumrall, Richmond, IN; one daughter and her husband, Becky and John Allen, Niangua; one niece and her husband, Cathy and Bill Ackermann, Rogersville; five grandchildren, Bill Sumrall and his wife Bethany, Belton, MO, Paula Sumrall, Columbia, MO, Danny Sumrall, Kansas City, MO, John Weatherly and his wife Sara, Nashville, TN and Kristen Pipenger and her husband Cary, Centerville, IN; one sister, Martha Mitchell, state of Alabama; three great-granddaughters; and many special friends.

Memorial services, with full military honors, will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 1, 2015 in the Marshfield United Methodist Church, under the direction of Fraker Funeral Home, Marshfield.

The family suggests memorial contributions can be made to the Salvation Army in care of Fraker Funeral Home, P.O. 85, Marshfield, MO 65706.
