Eula Mae Manary was born on October 2, 1922 and departed this life on February 1, 2016. She was loved and will be missed by her family and by her many friends. Eula Mae was the daughter of Wesley Deckard and Oma Crawford Deckard. She grew up in a loving family that included her brother, Everett, and her sisters, Sylvia and Toots. She attended High Point school until the 8th grade and then attended Niangua High School.
In the summer of 1940, Eula Mae married the love of her life, Argus Manary. The two were married for 60 years. They shared much joy and comforted each other in times of sadness. Their marriage produced two children: John Manary and Joyce Manary Young.
Together, Mae and Argus enjoyed spending time with their friends and family, attending church and community events, and gardening. They also enjoyed several trips to destinations around the U.S. with the Marshfield Seniors Club.
Eula Mae was a farm wife through and through. She will long be remembered for her skills raising calves on the farm and cooking biscuits in the kitchen. Many will fondly remember her fried chicken, hot rolls, and cream pies. Those she leaves behind will find comfort in the warmth of the many quilts she made as Christmas gifts over the years.
The greatest sorrow in Eula Mae’s life was the loss of her daughter Joyce in 1972. The loss would never completely lose its sting, but she was able to find happiness in the closeness she shared with her son, John, and the love and pride she felt for his sons, David, Mark, and Matt.
Eula Mae loved her home and family, but she also loved her church family and her many other friends. She enjoyed spending time with the Marshfield Quilting Club and the Thursday Ladies Church group. She was able to enjoy attending services at Marshfield Church of Christ right up to the end of her life and had good friends who took her to church and then back home again so that she could continue to enjoy time with her church family. At the end of her life, Eula Mae lived at the Strafford Care Center. The family wishes to extend a note of thanks to the staff there for the care, kindness, and respect they provided to Eula Mae and her family.
Eula Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Oma Deckard, her husband, Argus Manary, her daughter, Joyce Young, her brother, Everett Deckard, her sister, Tennie “Toots” Clift and an infant brother.
