Georgia Eleanor Young Hamilton, 80, of Marshfield, Missouri, passed peacefully on June 10, 2017. A loving mother and grandmother, Georgia was the daughter of Capt. William D. Young Jr. and Clara Husing Young, born on November 17, 1936 in Rockport, Missouri.
She attended Boyd County High School, and graduated from Marshall University in Huntington WV with a degree in Liberal Arts Georgia grew up in Catlettsburg, KY and lived most of her life in Ashland KY and also resided in Fallsburg, KY. She co-owned and helped operate the former Ray’s Automotive and Fallsburg Antiques.
She was a talented writer, painter, and seamstress…loving to create beauty in everything she did. She loved to knit, creating beautiful pieces for each child and grandchild to cherish her memory. Georgia loved genealogy, reading, knitting and her church, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Marshfield.
Georgia was preceded in death by her loving son, Wayne Ford Hamilton, her parents and her dearly beloved brother, Henry Husing Young. Georga Hamilton is survived by daughter, Jeanette (Douglass) Windhorst of South Point, OH. Four grandchildren: William Ray (Allison) Hatter of Pleasant View, TN, Mitchell Curtis Hatter of Edgewood, KY, Valerie Nicole (Aaron) Campbell of South Point, OH, and Charlie Wayne Hamilton of Keyser, WV. Included are two step-grandchildren, Greg Windhorst of South Point, Brad Windhorst of Ashland, KY. Georgia also has 13 surviving great grandchildren.
Her remains will be returned to her home of Ashland, KY and placed beside her father and mother at the Golden Oaks Cemetery.
