Mr. Jerry Dewain Schafer, son of Harold Schafer and Emmogene (Holt) Schafer, was born October 7, 1947 in Springfield, MO. He passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014, in the Cox Medical Center South, at the age of 66.
Jerry was a U.S. Marine serving three tours of duty in Vietnam. He was also a member of the Lakeside Family Worship Center. He enjoyed umpiring and being a bowling coach for the Special Olympics. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Gary and Barry Schafer.
Survivors include his wife Stella; four children, J.D. Schafer and his wife Cherry, Marshfield, John Schafer, Marshfield, Greg Schafer and his wife Callie, Marshfield, and Jami Schafer, Marshfield; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a step-sister, Sally, state of California; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2014 in the Fraker Funeral Home, Marshfield. Interment will follow in the Welch Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-4 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
