Bernita Faye Krueger, daughter of Arthur G. Krueger and Anna A. (Boelter) Krueger, was born June 23, 1922 in Goodrich, MN and passed away July 6, 2015 in Webco Manor at the age of 93 years and 13 days.
She was baptized April 17, 1927 in Goodrich, MN; and was confirmed October 10, 1937 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Marshfield by Pastor G.B. Seboldtt.
Bernita was in school her first years in Minnesota. In 1937 the family moved to Marshfield, where she graduated from Marshfield High School in 1942.
Her first employment off the farm and helping her family, after her mothers early death in September 1940, was child care and sewing for others. She became an accomplished seamstress. Bernita was employed by Turner’s Sewing Machine Shop. In 1959, she and her sister Opal moved to Lubbock, TX. There she was employed by Wright’s Drapery Shop. In those years the key punch was the norm for bookkeeping. She attended evening classes to receive her training so she and Opal could work evenings key punching cotton for a cotton company. In 1967 she and Opal returned to St. Louis, MO where she was employed by First National Bank; and she retired after 15 years in banking bookkeeping.
Always faithful to her Lord and beloved church, she and sister Opal were members of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She also served as a Lamplighter in Aid Association for Lutheran’s for their church chapter in St. Louis.
She enjoyed retirement in St. Louis until 2000, when she returned to Marshfield. Again, she transferred to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where she was a faithful member as long as her health permitted.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister and her husband Florence and Doldon Moore, Sr.; and one brother August “Bud” Krueger.
Survivors include one sister, Opal Krueger, Marshfield; one brother and his wife, Donald D. Krueger and his wife Cleo, Marshfield; one niece, Rochelle Hicks and her husband Ron and their daughter Courtlin; and one nephew Doldon Moore, Jr and his wife Kathy and their sons, Nathan and wife Nita and Chad Moore.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 10, 2015 in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Interment will follow in the Marshfield Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time Friday in the church.
